Clay County, Arkansas
Clay County was officially founded in the late 1800s deriving its name after former Senator John M. Clayton. The City of Corning was established as the first county seat. With the arrival of the St. Louis, Arkansas and Texas Railroad, other towns began to thrive including Rector, Greenway, and Piggott. With strong ties to the Civil War, Clay County remains a place of rich, historical significance.
